Job Description: 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Piston Design Engineer to join our Engineering team at Cosworth. They will work as an integrated member of the Piston business unit with responsibility for the design of pistons from initial enquiry to engineering release for internal engine programmes, and external customer requirements.

The Role: 

• To work closely with the piston commercial team, production engineering, quality, and manufacturing.
• To exercise independent technical judgement using sound engineering principles and appropriate experience to define a piston design.
• To produce accurate CAD models and manufacturing drawings.
• To follow all relevant Cosworth processes.
• To support or implement initiatives to improve the piston business and process.
• To consider the health and safety, environmental and energy impact of all activities.
• To support the Company’s compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018, following policy and best practice.

Candidate Profile: 

• A design engineer with sound engineering experience ideally gained with internal combustion engines or reciprocating machinery.
• Proficiency in Siemens NX 9-12 or a similar CAD system.
• Experienced user of Excel for creation of analytical spreadsheets.
• Ability to think creatively and provide solutions.
• Attention to detail, tenacity and patience to complete a job thoroughly.
• A good understanding of manufacturing requirements and practices.
• Strong interpersonal skills both verbal and written.
• Flexible and able to operate well as part of a team or autonomously in a fast-moving and demanding Engineering environment.
