Head of Operations
Job Description:
Reporting to our Managing Director, Head of Operations is responsible for managing the operational functions of the business. Collaborating with other senior management members to ensure successful delivery of all programmes by ensuring on time delivery, within budget and adhering to quality standards.
The Role:
Specific areas of responsibility are:
• Head of Planning
• Purchasing Manager
• Head of Stores
Role Responsibilities:
- Contribute and deliver the corporate strategy in the areas of production planning, purchasing and stores to ensure that the company achieves its short and long-term objectives.
- Monitor/Implement efficient processes and standards.
- Direct and oversee operations staff to ensure that they are motivated and trained to carry out their responsibilities to the required standard.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure that core operational functions achieve their business objectives.
- Develop and control operational budgets to promote profitability and ensure the company has all the resources required to meet its objectives within agreed financial parameters.
- Collaborate with functional group leads (FGL) to ensure that finished goods are available to customers within agreed costs and at the right times whilst adhering to quality standards.
- Support the Purchasing Manager to ensure that the company has the goods and services required for production purposes within agreed costs and quality standards and at the right times.
- Support and Direct production planning to ensure that customers/departments are supplied with the right quantities of goods at the right times.
- Support the Stores Manager to ensure stock management and stores operations runs efficiently.
- Develop all necessary policies and procedures to ensure safe and healthy working environments across all company locations.
- Maintain working relationships with all Senior Managers / FGL to ensure effective co-ordination of all company activities in support of corporate objectives.
- Continuous improvement plans in place for all responsible departments and Health and Safety.
- Act as the company’s main adviser on all issues relating to operational functions and keep abreast of latest developments to ensure that the company maintains its competitive position.
- Consider the health and safety, environmental and energy impact of all activities.
- Support the Company’s compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018, following policy and best practice.
Candidate Profile:
- Full working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, a working knowledge of ERP systems. Experienced on SAP preferred.
- Good knowledge of manufacturing methods and part lead times.
- Knowledge of data analytics and reporting.
- Excellent organizational and leadership ability.
- Outstanding communication and negotiation skills.
