Job Description:
Delta Cosworth is looking to recruit a dynamic, hands-on and results-orientated Engineering Director to develop and lead the engineering teams to deliver future electrification and vehicle programmes.
The Role:
- To be a key member of the Senior Leadership team supporting the overall strategy of the business in line with the MD’s strategy and procedures, including attendance at divisional meetings.
- Develop, structure, manage and inspire the teams that comprise the Engineering function (Mechanical, Electrical/Electronics, Systems & Software/Controls).
- Build and sustain a world class engineering team through development and hiring of top talent.
- Foster a high-performance culture across the engineering function with a right first time approach to enable engineering excellence.
- Overseeing the performance and development of direct reports.
- Develop and implement an engineering strategy in alignment with business objectives, focusing on efficiency, quality, capability and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure that Cosworth’s electrification offerings are developed to be best in class.
- Champion engineering excellence by introducing best practices, embracing new technologies, and fostering innovative approaches.
- Monitor and assess engineering processes, workflows, and standards to enhance productivity, quality and reduce risks.
- Collaborate with the Commercial team in order to mine for opportunities for new business and ensure technical proposals are meeting or exceeding customer expectations whilst maximising our opportunity for future contribution.
- Supervise and coordinate complex engineering projects, ensuring they progress from initiation to successful completion while adhering to schedules, budgets, and quality benchmarks.
- Proactively identify, prioritise and resolve issues as they arise utilising robust best practises such as 8D problem solving techniques.
- Ensure engineering budgets and resources are planned effectively across multiple programmes including new business development.
- Consider the health and safety, environmental and energy impact of all activities.
- Support the Company’s compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018, following policy and best practice.
Candidate Profile:
Technical
- Degree in applicable engineering topic.
- Minimum 10 years experience in leading engineering teams and / or technical delivery of complex engineering led programmes.
- You will have an excellent understanding of High Voltage Battery and electrification powertrain systems and associated legislations.
- Expert understanding of best practise engineering processes and procedures.
- Familiarity with financial and management accounting information, from both a planning and reporting perspective.
- Exceptional presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently to agreed goals.
- Ability to build and manage a high performance engineering team.
People
- An established career with a proven track record of leading engineering teams and managing successful delivery of technical programmes ideally with experience in the electrification space.
- Able to engage and influence.
- Effective and creative problem solver.
- Able to communicate effectively (verbal & written) both internally and externally at all levels.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work proactively using own initiative.
