Quality Engineer
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly driven Quality Engineer to join our business to provide Quality Engineering support within our Quality, Production and Engineering functions.
Job Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Quality Engineer to join our business and provide Quality Engineering support throughout our Quality, Production and Engineering functions. The successful candidate will be responsible for quality aspects of new products throughout development to product launch phase, and provide the necessary support for the resolution of internal and external concerns. You will also aid the company in continually improving quality standards and to ensure that all customers’ quality requirements and company accreditation requirements are met.
The Role:
- Ownership of internal quality issues and resolution with known Quality tools, in a timely fashion.
- Data collection and collation – development of improvement activities.
- Definition of inspection criteria.
- Lineside quality improvement activities such as defect disposition analysis, scrap and rework analysis, as well as general improvement projects.
- Data driven improvement activities in response to internal quality gate findings including conducting root cause analysis, countermeasure implementation and auditing.
- Management of internal quality KPIs and metrics – development of improvement plans.
- Conducting internal quarantine and scrap reviews.
- Assisting in external quality activities where needed (significant overlap with customer impact issues).
- Planning and managing APQP and PPAP activities, including the PPAP tracker.
- Customer liaison on new/existing projects including management of product quality concerns.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and practices operated by the company.
- Raising and management of concessions and the concession system.
- Control and monitor of the PDI process including the data analysis and performance monitoring.
- Process and product auditing and improvement activities.
- Consider the health and safety, environmental and energy impact of all activities.
- Support the Company’s compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018, following policy and best practice.
Candidate Profile:
- Experience in aluminium CNC machining.
- Working knowledge of GD&T.
- Basic knowledge of aluminium casting processes.
- Strong practical problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated experience in automotive PPAPs / APQP.
- Experience of using quality tools such as, 8D, 5Why, Ishikawa.
- Working understanding of statistical analysis tools such as Gauge R&Rs, capability analyses and comparison tests etc.
- Experience in a customer facing role.
- Some experience of process audits.
- Experience in the use of handheld gauging equipment.
- Experience of manufacturing metrology equipment including CMMs.
- Knowledge of visual management techniques.
